This trophy is a chain with an engraved link representing every Best in II hound in history, stretching back to the first II in 1976. Jack Helder calls this trophy "Links to the Past" Award because it will beautifully "link" all past ASFA Best in II hounds together in one exceptional trophy. It is a fitting tribute to the 35th Anniversary Year of the ASFA.

This trophy needs donations from the fancy because the ASFA Board already substantially supports the II monetarily. Total cost for this hand-crafted sterling silver award will be in the neighborhood of $2800, including engraved links for all the past Best in II hounds - with their name on one side and the year on the other side. Also included are a dozen "take home" links to be engraved and taken home by the next dozen winners of Best in II, for mounting in a display or as a piece of jewelry. The "Links to the Past" chain will remain in possession of the ASFA President for presentation at future IIs. It will include a display donated by Kathy Nelson - who is coordinating the project with the artist - and a case to protect the chain.

Those individuals or organizations that donate to this award will be listed in FAN. In addition, those who owned a past Best in II winner can purchase an engraved sterling silver "take home link" for a donation of $100 - to use in a display or piece of jewelry. Additional "take home links" can be ordered by check only, at $60 each.

We want to award this "Links to the Past" chain at the 2007 II, so donations are needed as soon as possible.
